Heartbeat by Ajeet: A Listening Guide

Heartbeat is a three-track single released on December 11, 2025. It is small in scale, and it arrives at a particular point in Ajeet's story. This guide describes what the record is and where it sits. Its three tracks are "Heartbeat," "From The Water" and "Viento," the last two already released as singles that autumn.

Where It Sits in Ajeet's Arc

Ajeet began with mantra. Sacred Waters (2013) holds music for Kundalini Yoga meditations, and At The Temple Door (2014) weaves songs and mantras with harmonies from Snatam Kaur. Darshan (2015) was recorded in Bali, and Haseya (2016) takes its title from the Diné for "she rises." Shuniya and Indigo Sea followed in 2018, then the LUNAR EP (2020), whose four songs follow the phases of the moon.

In 2020 she moved back to Ireland and began working from her home studio. Let It Breathe (2022) came from there, and Slánú, her album of October 2026, followed. Heartbeat arrived between those two, in the final weeks of 2025. Slánú lists a song called "Heartbeat" among its tracks. A single that carries the title and appears ahead of the album reads like an invitation, a first look at where she was heading. Listen with that in mind.

Sonic Character

Ajeet's music moves from traditional Irish folk toward mystical, meditative soundscapes, and that arc is the best map for approaching this single. Her label's description of her live album Voices Like Rain gives a sense of her palette: layered harmonies, acoustic and electric guitars, hand percussion and Celtic harp. Her band brings together musicians from Spain, Ireland and the United States, and the harpist and vocalist Aisling Urwin is a longtime bandmate.

What you can expect on these three tracks is the temperament that runs through her catalog: unhurried pacing, voices placed at the center, and a mood closer to stillness than spectacle. Her songs often carry layers of folklore, dream images and myth. Even in a short release, listen for imagery that feels handed down rather than newly invented.

Tracks Worth Naming

"Heartbeat." The title song is the obvious place to begin. The word itself suggests a pulse, a slow and steady rhythm underneath everything else. In a body of work that has long served meditation and chant, a pulse is a natural organizing idea, because it is the original metronome of breath and attention. Listen for how the song handles repetition, since that is where devotional music often does its quietest work. Notice whether it builds, or whether it simply stays with you.

The other two tracks are "From The Water" and "Viento," which had each come out on their own earlier that autumn. Treat them as part of a short sequence. With only three pieces, the order, the spacing between them and the way the closing track settles matter more than they would on a longer album.

Place in Its Tradition

Ajeet's work sits where several streams meet. The devotional and world-music label reflects her mantra-based beginnings and her Kundalini Yoga repertoire. She also draws on the Irish folk tradition of her background, with its habit of story, myth and passed-down song. She leads retreats that pair yoga and meditation with songs and stories, and her Dreaming Retreat visits ancient sacred sites in Cork and Kerry. That context suggests she treats music as something used and lived with, not only performed.

Heartbeat belongs to the later, more personal stage of that lineage. The early albums leaned on mantra. This music, made from her home in Ireland, feels closer to song, meditation and folk memory held together.

Who It Lands Hardest For

This single is for the listener who already knows her and wants to hear where she is now. It is also for someone who finds a full album of devotional music too much to take in at once. Three tracks make a manageable doorway.

It will resonate most in a life moment that calls for slowing down: after a long stretch of work or noise, during a period of grief or transition, or when you want to settle the body before sleep. Listeners who return to meditative music as a daily practice, as opposed to occasional background, will find a natural place for it.

How to Listen Closely

Choose a quiet evening and give the three tracks their full length, uninterrupted. Headphones are worth it. Her music relies on layered voices and soft textures that disappear through laptop speakers or in a busy kitchen.

Start with the lights low and your phone out of reach. Let the first track serve as arrival, and try breathing in time with whatever pulse you hear. On a second pass, shift your attention away from the melody and toward the spaces between sounds, where this kind of music does most of its work. If you keep a practice of yoga, meditation or journaling, play the single at the start or end of it. At under a full album's length, it fits easily into a ritual.

Afterward, sit in the silence for a minute before reaching for anything else. When you are ready for more, Slánú is the next step, and the full list of her releases is at ajeetmusic.com.
